CHINNOR have cancelled Saturday's friendly against Rams after a player tested positive for coronavirus.

Only the individual and those who came into close contact with him are self-isolating, but the Thame-based side and their opponents agreed to scrap the fixture.

All matches involving Chinnor's Kites and age-group sides this weekend will go ahead, as Public Health England have confirmed the club can remain open due to the seniors playing away at Rams last Saturday.

It means they have not entered the Kingsey Road site, as training was subsequently called off.

Chinnor said in a statement: "The health and safety of staff, players and spectators from both clubs remains paramount and Chinnor RFC Thame continually takes all necessary steps to protect all where possible.

"We wish our player, and everyone who has been affected by this terrible virus, a speedy recovery and our best wishes go out to them.

"Anyone who has bought a ticket for this Saturday’s game will be refunded in due course, but please note that this can take up to ten days depending on your bank."
