CHINNOR’S new backroom team continues to come together after they appointed a new coach.

Daz Oliver will be in charge of the National League 1 side’s strength and conditioning when the new campaign gets under way.

The former RAF lock had two spells with the club as a player and co-founded the Powerhouse Performance Club, which is based at Kingsey Road.

It adds to a new-look staff being put in place since Richard Thorpe was named as director of rugby a fortnight ago.

Oliver said: “Thorpey has outlined his vision for the club and the culture we want to build, and it’s very exciting.

“Powerhouse has been involved with the strength and conditioning for the last two seasons, so we have a good understanding of what works and what doesn’t.

“Thorpey has given me licence to put whatever systems I see necessary in place to get us up to the standard we want to operate at.”

Thorpe added: “During my time in Premiership and international environments, the head of strength and conditioning was always a crucial part of the senior management team.

“Daz is a professional through and through.

“His physiology and military knowledge, and experience will give our players a competitive edge over other National League 1 teams when we return to playing.”
