FORMER Samoa captain Ofisa Treviranus has been backed to give Chinnor a tougher edge next season.

The 35-year-old, who won 42 international caps and played at the last two World Cups, has joined the Thame-based club after eight years with London Irish.

And Matt Williams, Chinnor’s director of rugby, believes the powerful forward will be a big hit on and off the field for the National League 1 outfit.

He said: “Not only is Ofisa still a brilliant player, his leadership qualities and demand for excellence from his teammates will be a huge contributing factor to the success of the season.

“Last season we were too often too nice and Ofisa will give us a hardened edge we often lacked.”

Treviranus said: “I hope I can give the club a small part of my experience.

“Chinnor has a great set of players, coaches and staff.

“I’m excited to contribute and help make history for the club.”
