BANBURY made it four league wins in a row when beating Trowbridge 27-14 away in a thrilling South West 1 East contest.

An Ed Phillips penalty gave Bulls an early lead, but Trowbridge responded well to make it 7-3 when Andrew Twinney went over, Tom Weaver converting.

Banbury lost Steve Potter and Chris Phillips to injury.

But they led 10-7 at the break, when Sam Mills and Jacob Mills set up brother Joe Mills. Ed Phillips added the extras.

John King’s score, converted by Weaver, saw Trowbridge go 14-10 ahead.

But Bulls re-took the lead, when Ed Phillips darted over and it was soon 20-14, thanks to Jack Briggs’ try.

Ed Phillips was sin-binned, but Trowbridge were unable to make the extra man count.

And Banbury secured the bonus point with a minute remaining, when Matt Goode drove over, Duncan Leese converting.

Witney lost 24-11 at Wimborne.

Kick-off was delayed after the visitors arrived late due to a car fire on the M3 and conceded an early try, when Jack Mason went over, Lewis Munster converting.

Witney hit back to lead 8-7 after 13 minutes, thanks to a Ted Landray penalty and Tom Gaffney’s try.

But Wimborne found themselves 14-8 ahead at half-time, thanks to Kristian Heeps’ score, Munster converting.

Munster and Landray traded penalties.

However, the hosts sealed victory when Mason crossed for his second try, Munster converting.

Oxford Harlequins fell to back-to-back home defeats when suffering a 17-10 loss against Old Centralians.

Lewis Locke’s try, converted by Wayne Mulhern, saw the visitors lead 7-0.

But Quins hit back to make it 10-7 at the break, thanks to tries from Martin Nutt and Luke Finch.

However, they could not hold on to their slender advantage as Ryan Townsend’s try was converted by Mulhern, who went on to kick a penalty, as Old Cents triumphed.
