Ravi Shamsi scored a hat-trick as Banbury United returned to winning ways in the Evo-Stik South League with a 3-1 victory away to Premier Division Central side basement side Bedworth United.

The Puritans, who lost their unbeaten record at home to St Neot's Town on Saturday, were gifted an early goal when home keeper Dan Crane passed straight to Amer Awadh, who set up Shamsi to score.

Bedworth equalised after ten minutes with a fierce header from Lyseden Christie.

Banbury regained the lead in the 21st minute when Awadh sent over a low cross that Shamsi netted with a side-foot volley.

Mike Ford's side sealed the result in the 87th minute when substitute Steve Diggin squared the ball to Shamsi, who completed his first hat-trick in senior football.
