Banbury United boss Mike Ford has warned his side not to get carried away following Tuesday’s FA Cup replay win against Weymouth.

The manager, whose side entertain St Neots Town in Premier Division Central of the Evo-Stik South League tomorrow, was delighted with the midweek 2-1 victory.

But he insists his players must forget that and be fully focused on what he describes as the most important game so far.

“Tuesday was a good night, and a good performance, and we deserved the result,” he said.

“But we have to put that to bed and concentrate on St Neots, and next week’s league game at Bedworth.

“People can keep talking about us having a good start, which we have. But we’ve only played eight games, three of which have been cup ties.

“After Saturday, and Bedworth next Tuesday, that will be seven league games, and we could probably start to see whereabouts we are in terms of the league.

“We have to continue to grind out results.

“If we lose, we will probably drop to mid-table from being in a play-off place, so the next two games are massively important.”

Striker Steve Diggin is carrying an Achilles problem, but will be in the squad.

“He’s always in the squad, because if he could even play for ten minutes, he could win us a game.

“But we need to manage him carefully, because he’s an important player.”

Ford says confidence is high, but warns that they must not take their foot off the gas.

He said: “The win against Weymouth should give my players all the belief they need that they can do well against anybody we play.”

Didcot Town are confident despite being forced to name a depleted squad for their trip to unbeaten Division 1 Central leaders Peterborough Sports tomorrow.

The Railwaymen will be without the suspended Callum McNish and Michael Alexis, while David Murphy and Lance Williams are ruled out through injury.

Aaron Woodley and George Reid are away, while Ryan Markham has returned to Wantage.

In-form Didcot are coming off the back of two successive wins – against Wingate & Finchley in the FA Cup and Thame United in the Southern League Cup, but boss Andy Ballard knows they face a real test.

He said: “Peterborough are in great form, but we are high on confidence and are on a winning run .

Ballard said: “The cup win has created a real buzz around the club.

“We want to keep it going, and will be going there full of confidence.”

North Leigh visit Corby Town, welcoming back Eddie Stevens, who has recovered from a broken toe.

Joint manager Craig Dore said: “We will have to be somewhere near our best against unbeaten Corby.

“But we have shown our potential a number of times, and I’m confident that if we replicate that, we can certainly match them.”

Thame United will look to maintain their 100 per cent start in the league when they entertain Barton United.

“We’ve played four teams that will be around us come the end of the season,” said boss Mark West. “We’ve managed to win all four, so that puts us in a good position.”

Lawrence Clark, a midfielder from Risborough Rangers, is added to the squad.

Struggling Kidlington, still looking for their first goal and points, travel to Berkhamsted.
