THAME United boss Mark Jones has called on his side to pull off a mini cup-upset of their own as his side host Bostik League Premier Division side Worthing in the second qualifying round of the Buildbase FA Trophy tomorrow.

Worthing play a level above Thame, but are bottom of the table.

However, the West Sussex side have won four matches on the spin, so West is expecting a tough match.

“Worthing had a really bad start, but they’ve really started to turn things around,” West said.

“That said, it’ll be nice for the lads to have a cup game like this to play in. We will do all we can to get through to the next round, as there is some really good prize money (£4,000) at stake.”

West is no stranger to success in this competition, having collected a winners’ medal while at Wycombe Wanderers, scoring the winning goal against Kidderminster Harriers at Wembley in 1991.

He says it’s a great competition for non-league sides, with National League sides coming into the competition in two rounds’ time.

“It’s not just the prize money that’s good about the Trophy,” West said. “There are now some really big clubs in non-league, and although I am only focused on tomorrow, it would be great to go on a little run.”

West names a full-strength squad with his son, striker Dan, returning from a one-match suspension.

Banbury United make the trip to fellow South Premier outfit Farnborough.

They will be without suspended duo Ravi Shamsi and Jack Westbrook, while new signing Elliot Sandy is cup-tied.

Banbury were beaten 2-1 in midweek at home to King’s Lynn, but Ford was pleased with his side’s performance in the second half.

He said: “Being 2-0 down at the break, I just wanted the players to win the second half, which we did. We got a goal, kept them under pressure, and had a good go at them.

“Tomorrow’s game is a really good one for us. There’s no expectation on us, but it’s an opportunity to earn good revenue for the club.”
