PAOLO Di Canio says his Swindon Town side are determined to make it a special day.

“This is only one game and at the end of the day there is three points to play for,” said boss Di Canio.

“But it is a special game to play for the players, manager and especially the fans.

“I will call the attention on this because I don’t want to put extra pressure on my players because if they continue doing the job they have done until today then we will win again.

“If they are capable on this special day to give something more without going too much over the concentration and handle the pressure, then it is another step forward to become a better footballer and a better team.

“We want to make this a special day for the fans because they have been amazing this season, but we want more, we want more for us.

“It is a special day, but with all respect to the fans, we have to become more mature.

“If someone is going to tell me right now that we will lose the derby, but we will go up for sure this season then I think most fans will accept this, because we will go up and Oxford could remain in League Two.

“However, I don’t want to imagine this scenario because, like the fans, I want to win every game, including this one because it is special.

“You want to win and hurt them there.”

Di Canio says he has no regrets over the failure to sign James Constable earlier in the season, but admits he is praying the striker fails to find the net today.

“Constable was desperate to come here, that is not my opinion,” he said.

“It was when he had some doubt that I decided I did not want him anymore.

“He is an Oxford player and I respect this, but he is out of my mind now. When I cut, I cut completely.

“For me he is a player who is cancelled from my list for the rest of my career at Swindon, but I don’t mean this in an angry way.

“I don’t know him, I respect him, but this is what happened.

“I don’t have anything against him personally, he plays for Oxford and I hope he can have a good career, but just not score against us!”
