REMAINING patient is going to be key on this journey to Oxford United finding a new home.

There will be twists and turns – almost as many as in a league season following the U’s – along the way before the matter comes to an end.

Whatever the outcome of discussions over the next few weeks and months, supporters must trust the process.

There will be a lot more meetings than the Kidlington Parish Council one yesterday evening, and all the stakeholders, from top to bottom, will want to have their say.

Each of those authorities involved must be listened to and respected, both by the club and supporters.

There will be differing views, of course, and that is the purpose of these meetings – to ensure as many people as possible are being listened to.

Fans will rightly be anxious on the fate of the club’s stadium search, but they should be confident United are in the right hands.

An immense amount of work is going on behind the scenes by club officials to keep making progress on the stadium front.

Stratfield Brake is the preferred site, and there are a vast number of advantages to moving south of Kidlington.

There are things still to be ironed out – we are still at very early stages of the process – and these will be addressed in due course.

There’s still four years before United’s license agreement at the Kassam Stadium expires, but progress continues.
