JOE Iaciofano scored for the third game running as Oxford City won 2-1 at Concord Rangers in Vanarama National League South.

The striker set the visitors on their way to victory in Essex, before Josh Ashby found the net for the second match in a row with a free-kick on the stroke of half-time.

Temi Babalola pulled a goal back after the restart, but City held on.

Ross Jenkins’ side are fifth, five points clear of sixth-placed Eastbourne Borough as they all-but secured a home tie in next month's play-off eliminator round.

Concord went close after 17 minutes when they won the ball high up the pitch and Louis Ramsay shot straight at Ben Dudzinski.

The visitors gave their opponents a taste of their own medicine moments later as Iaciofano pounced on a mistake and fired past Myles Roberts.

City thought they should have had a penalty when Lewis Coyle went down on the edge of the box after 44 minutes, only for a free-kick to be given. Ashby ensured any debate was academic as he curled into the top corner.

Concord looked bright after the restart and equalised when Babalola converted Ryan Blackman’s cross at the second attempt.

City had to be professional and almost sealed victory late on when George Harmon's header was well saved by Roberts.

They saw the game out and are back in action on Monday, when they host St Albans in the final match of the regular season.
