OXFORD United’s play-off hopes received a small boost this afternoon as three teams above them dropped points.

Plymouth Argyle and Sunderland, who are fourth and now sixth respectively, played out a stalemate at Home Park.

It leaves the Pilgrims seven points ahead of United, having played a game more, while Sunderland are five points in front and on the same number of matches.

Meanwhile, Wycombe Wanderers only drew 1-1 at struggling AFC Wimbledon courtesy of Adebayo Akinfenwa’s equaliser ten minutes from time, but it was enough to see them rise two places to fifth.

United are now five points behind the Chairboys with a game in hand, which comes against automatic-promotion chasing MK Dons at the Kassam Stadium tomorrow.
