OXFORD City stayed sixth in Vanarama National League South after a 1-1 home draw against third-place Dartford.

An early penalty from Marcus Dinanga gave the visitors the lead before Joe Iaciofano grabbed the equaliser.

Less than two minutes were on the clock when Dartford’s Jake Robinson was fouled in the area – the worst possible start for City.

Dinanga found the top right corner from 12 yards to leave the hosts with an uphill struggle.

Ross Jenkins saw a reaction from his players through a flurry of opportunities, with visiting goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook saving from Iaciofano one-on-one.

After sustained pressure, the home side managed to make a breakthrough.

Josh Ashby reached the byline and cut the ball back to Iaciofano, who made no mistake this time from the edge of the six-yard box.

Dartford failed to reassert themselves and City controlled most of the game in the second period.

A couple of penalty shouts came and went, while the hosts’ best chance of a winner saw Zac McEachran create space for himself with excellent footwork before bending an effort just wide.

Wantage Town’s relegation was confirmed in the most brutal fashion as leaders Bedford Town dished out a 7-0 thrashing.

The Alfredians were beaten 8-1 by the Pitching In Southern League Division 1 Central table-toppers before Christmas and the home defeat was no less painful.

Six Bedford players found the net as Wantage’s relegation was confirmed with four games of the season left.

At the top of the table, North Leigh stay sixth after a stalemate with play-off rivals Ware.

The Millers had chances to win it, but the visitors hit the post twice.

Connor Barrett’s double earned Didcot Town a 2-2 draw at home to St Neots Town, while Thame United played out a stalemate at Colney Heath.

Jack White was on target as Kidlington lost 3-1 at Kempston Rovers.
