OXFORD United Women belatedly kick-off 2022 at Court Place Farm today.
The U’s face Cardiff City Ladies (2pm) as they return to action in FA Women’s National League Southern Premier.
United were due to visit London Bees last weekend, but the game was postponed less than two hours before kick-off after the pitch at The Hive was deemed unplayable.
The U’s had already arrived and manager Liam Gilbert explained how they made the best of a bad situation.
He told United’s official website: “It was frustrating, to say the least, to get all the way to the game and then for it to be called off.
“We trained on the pitch next door but we were all looking forward to the game after the fantastic way we had been playing before Christmas.
“Now we have to make sure the slightly longer break doesn’t mean we lose any momentum.
“Hopefully a bit of a break helps us get any knocks and aches and pains out of the way and we can go out there and pick up where we left off.”
United have not played since they beat leaders Ipswich Town 3-1 on December 19 and resume the campaign second in the table.
