MATTY Taylor has been nominated for Sky Bet League One player of the month.

The Oxford United striker is up for the December prize after scoring four goals in five games.

He is up against Rotherham United midfielder Dan Barlaser, Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray and Sunderland midfielder Alex Pritchard.

Taylor’s goals helped the U’s claim ten points from five matches in December as they cemented a play-off place.

The 31-year-old began the month by scoring the equaliser at Sunderland, earning United a 1-1 draw.

A week later he again levelled at MK Dons, as the U’s went on to win 2-1.

Taylor found the net again in the 3-2 home defeat to Wigan Athletic, before a similar sliding finish in last Wednesday’s 3-0 triumph over AFC Wimbledon.

It took his tally for the season to 12 goals.

The striker is United’s most recent winner of League One player of the month, taking the prize for his seven strikes in February 2020.

He is the second U’s man to gain a nomination this season, after James Henry was shortlisted for the August award.
