BICESTER Blue Fins enjoyed a successful CMK open meet at Aqua Vale in Aylesbury, securing five medals.

Club captains Tia Falkner and Will Jones, along with Jacob Pillinger, Seb Gomm, Eleanor Iles and Josh Scrivener all finished in the top five of their age groups.

Iles, who was recently selected for the Swim England National Development Programme, finished first in the 800m, in a time of 10:12.78.

She said: “It was a great feeling to come first and see all my hard work and dedication to swimming start to pay off.”

Pillinger took bronze in the 800m, in a time of 9:11.15, before claiming silver in the 1,500m in a time of 17:46.61.

He said: “Swimming both distance events at the same meet was challenging, but in the end, I actually enjoyed it and am really pleased with my times.”

Falkner won gold with her 1,500m swim, while Scrivener bagged bronze in the 800m.

Head coach Craig Oliver praised the swimmers for the work they have put in during the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: “Seeing the swimmers thrive in the distance events through their ability to hold quality technique repeatedly was fantastic to watch.

“Their endurance was testament to the hard work they have put in throughout lockdown and over the last eight months.

“I can’t wait to see how they perform at their next target meet.”

CMK Swimming Club held the event alongside Maxwell Swim Club.
