OXFORD United will name just three substitutes on their team sheet against Fleetwood Town, says Karl Robinson.

The U's have no more than 14 first-team players available for tonight’s Sky Bet League One game, providing they all come through another round of Covid tests this morning.

Teams are allowed to name a matchday squad of 18 and can make up to three changes, down from five last season.

But Robinson suggested he would not promote youngsters to fill his bench, partly to minimise the risk of spreading the virus.

“We’ll have three on the bench, but we’ll be very competitive," he said.

“We’re only allowed to make three subs, so to bring anyone else into this group now would be a bit silly.

“We’ve been shut off from everything else in the building and we don’t want to increase that risk.

“Our younger players have to do something to get into the squad, you can’t just be handed something for nothing.

“We’ll see how players react to more testing and then we’ll move forward from then.”

United have until late afternoon to bring in a goalkeeper on an emergency loan, with no senior stoppers available.
