KARL Robinson felt Oxford United’s win at Burton Albion was evidence of a club on the up.

The U’s fully deserved their 3-1 victory at the Pirelli Stadium, which saw them leapfrog the Brewers and climb into the Sky Bet League One play-off places.

In terms of the scoreline, it was not quite United’s 5-1 triumph in this fixture last season, but that came against a side who were rock bottom of the table at the time.

And Robinson, who watched from home as he continues to isolate with Covid, felt yesterday’s display trumped the one in January.

The U’s head coach said: “I watched them play Plymouth the other day and they were much better, and ahead of us in the league.

“I’d argue that this is a better performance than when we beat them 5-1.

“It’s about the football club getting out of this level and taking steps forward.

“This is where it all started last season with that victory.

"I think you’ve seen greater clarity, not only in our style but how we move forward, in our subs, how we dealt with Jack Stevens (who was ruled out with Glandular fever).

“We put Simon Eastwood in and it looked like he’s never been away.”

United’s attacking performance was one to savour, but Robinson felt his captain deserved to be singled out.

He said: "Elliott Moore came back from illness and had a little bit of a dip in form, but I think he’s been sensational since then.

“He looked on another planet at some stages.”

The U’s boss also provided an update on his health, adding: “I’m feeling much better and coming through the other side of it, I’m at that stage where I’m completely and utterly frustrated and bored.”
