OXFORD United Women saw their five-match unbeaten run come to an end at Crawley Wasps.
Emma Plewa’s goal 20 minutes from time proved the difference as the Sussex side leapfrogged the U’s in FA Women’s National League Southern Premier.
Liam Gilbert named the same XI that beat Bridgwater United so impressively seven days prior and all three goalscorers that day had chances early on.
First, Beth Lumsden’s effort was saved by the goalkeeper, before Carly Johns had a shot cleared off the line and Sophie Baker was thwarted on the rebound.
The U’s continued to enjoy more chances, Daisy McLachlan and Johns both going close before the interval.
Cat Beaver headed Lauren Haynes’s corner wide early in the second half, but it was Crawley who finally broke the deadlock.
Plewa advanced into United’s 18-yard box and had space to shoot, allowing her to beat Rose Kite and put the hosts ahead.
The U’s could not equalise and slipped to sixth in the table with their second defeat of the season, while their opponents go third.
United have the chance to put it right when they visit bottom side Hounslow on Wednesday, before hosting rivals Swindon Town in the League Cup preliminary round this weekend.
