TWO of Oxfordshire’s Pitching In Southern League sides called off last night's matches due to the ongoing fuel supply issues.

Banbury United’s home clash with Biggleswade Town in Premier Central was supposed to be the first game with their new floodlights, but it was postponed after a request from the visitors.

Meanwhile, Wantage Town asked for their Division 1 Central trip to AFC Dunstable to be rescheduled.

A statement on the Alfredians’ website said: “Unfortunately the game is an hour and a half’s travel each way for us, or longer for some players.

“Apologies to our hosts for having to do this as we appreciate the effort that goes in to hosting games, and thanks to the league for being so understanding.”

The two derbies in Division 1 Central did go ahead, however.

North Leigh battled back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Thame United and return to the top of the table.

Greg Hackett’s excellent double put the hosts in charge inside half an hour and they looked well-placed for a fourth successive victory as the game entered its closing stages.

But the Millers struck twice in four minutes to snatch a point, Jordan Thomas and Wes Jodo scoring.

Elsewhere, Kidlington made it two wins on the spin with an impressive 3-0 victory at Didcot Town.

James Holmes set the visitors on their way with a long-range strike after 11 minutes, with Steve Robertson making it 2-0 before the break.

The forward added another in the closing stages to make it a happy journey back up the A34.

Didcot are now seventh in the table, with Thame 14th and Kidlington 15th.
