OXFORD United could start next season in July due to the fixture disruption caused by the Qatar World Cup.
A draft match schedule seen by The Times newspaper has the English Football League (EFL) kicking-off on July 30, a week earlier than normal, with the Premier League seven days later.
The 2022 World Cup takes place from November 21 to December 18, when temperatures in Qatar are cooler, causing a shake-up to next season’s calendar.

The Times reports there will be a break in Premier League and Sky Bet Championship fixtures from November 14, but there is no suggestion Leagues One and Two would pause.
Eight fixtures in the third tier were postponed from September 4 due to international call-ups, although not all of the nationalities represented will qualify for Qatar.
The Championship would resume when the World Cup group stage ends on December 4, with domestic football fully up and running again with the Carabao Cup fourth round on December 21.
According to the draft schedule, the final day of the Premier League has been provisionally set for May 28, with the Emirates FA Cup final on June 3.
There is no indication when the last round of EFL fixtures for 2022/23 would be.
This season, League One finishes on the weekend of April 30, with the Championship and League Two on May 7 and 8.
