OXFORD United Women are trying to rearrange their derby with Swindon Town to prevent a clash with the Micky Lewis memorial match.

The League Cup preliminary round tie is scheduled to take place at Court Place Farm on Sunday, October 10.

But that afternoon Oxfordshire football will pay tribute to Lewis, who passed away in March, with a charity game at the Kassam Stadium.

United are keen to move the A420 derby but they will not be able to play on Saturday 9, when Court Place Farm is already in use.

United Women tweeted yesterday about the 'huge impact' Lewis had on several 'players, staff and volunteers, as well as fans'.

Captain Lauren Haynes worked closely with the club legend at City's Velocity football and education programme, where they ran the female and male sections respectively.

Swindon are eighth in FA Women's National League Division One South West, which is one tier below the U's.

United have started the season strongly and sit fifth in Southern Premier, while they reached this stage by beating AFC Wimbledon 2-1 in the determining round.
