THE Sky Bet League One play-off final is set to go ahead as planned after the Champions League final was moved to Porto.

There were fears the fixture on Sunday, May 30, could be rearranged if Wembley was selected as the venue for Manchester City's clash with Chelsea 24 hours earlier.

But the British government could not accommodate requests to allow quarantine exemptions for thousands of sponsors, VIPs and broadcasters, which made Porto the front-runner for the European showpiece.

The all-English final was due to take place in Istanbul, but had to be moved after Turkey was placed on England's ‘red list’ for international travel amid the coronavirus pandemic.

It would mean fans travelling to the game would have to quarantine for ten days in a government-approved location when they return.

Reports earlier this week suggested the English Football League was prepared to rearrange its three play-off finals, scheduled to take place at Wembley between May 29 and 31.

Oxford United face Blackpool in next week's semi-finals, with the first leg at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday (6pm) and the return match at Bloomfield Road on Friday (7.45pm).

The winner will face Sunderland or Lincoln City, who are in action next Wednesday and Saturday.
