CALLUM McNish scored twice as North Leigh beat hosts Wantage Town 4-1 to book a place in the Buildbase FA Trophy first round proper.

The Millers opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark through McNish, who doubled the tally from the penalty spot ten minutes later.

Lance Williams made it 3-0 just before the break, only to hand Wantage a lifeline when he was sent off ten minutes into the second half.

Ryan Knight quickly reduced the deficit, but the home side were unable to make further inroads.

And a fourth goal for the visitors arrived with virtually the final action of the game.

It saw the Millers claim the £3,750 in prize money and sent them into the first round proper, on November 14, for only the second time in their history.

Thame United are also into the main competition, for the first time since the 2004/05 season.

They did it without kicking a ball, due to opponents Wimborne Town forfeiting the tie, which was due to be played this afternoon.

It came after a member of the first team testing positive for Covid-19.
