OXFORD United may have to wait until the festive period for a chance to face Swindon Town.

The pair were due to meet for the first time since February 2017 today, but multiple coronavirus cases in the Swindon Town camp led to the fixture being postponed.

The rearranged meeting could be two months away, due to a packed U's fixture list.

With the third attempt to play Crewe Alexandra now in place on November 17, the next available date is December 8.

But that midweek is set aside for the first knockout round in the EFL Trophy.

While United are not definitely through, they go into the final round-robin game at Walsall next month top of their group and favourites to progress.

Should that happen, the next available date is on December 22.

The festive period is not as intense as in some seasons, but that would still see United playing five games in 15 days.
