OXFORD United have received some good news over John Mousinho's knee injury, while four other players are making good progress.

The club captain suffered the damage against Watford in the Carabao Cup last week and while a scan was inconclusive, head coach Karl Robinson feared a long lay-off.

But after seeing a specialist yesterday, the U's now hope Mousinho will only be out for between four and six weeks.

It leaves Robinson with a decision to make over whether to bring in cover at centre back.

Although the experienced defender is not ruled out for months, a six-week lay-off would see him miss the next ten games - so could prompt United to sign a short-term deal to tide them over.

Josh Ruffels, Alex Gorrin and Jamie Hanson are all due back in training next week, while Sam Winnall is also making good progress.

Robinson told the club's website: "We are still looking to bring in players to strengthen us but it’s always good to have players getting that bit closer to being part of the squad again after injury.”
