Watford goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg has joined Swedish side BK Hacken on loan for the upcoming season.

The 21-year-old is yet to make a senior competitive appearance for the Hornets since arriving from IFK Gotheburg in 2018.

Last season he joined Eredivisie side FC Emmen on loan, but featured just once for their Under 21 side before football was postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Hacken announced the move this morning via their website and said they hoped Dahlberg would be ready to play in a game later this week, saying: "BK Häcken has agreed with the recently relegated Premier League team Watford on a loan of the 21-year-old until 31 May next year and the hope is to get him ready to play already for the next match, away against Varberg on Thursday."

Speaking to the Hacken website, Dahlberg said: "It feels fun with a new challenge and new opportunities that I look forward to. I want to come in and perform and hope to be able to help the club move forward."
