PAUL and Oliver Cole celebrated their first winner since taking out a joint licence to train at Whatcombe, near Wantage, when Valpolicella sprang a 20-1 surprise at Newmarket.
The daughter of Tamayuz, owned by British music industry executive Christopher Wright, came out on top in a field of unraced two-year-old fillies in the six-furlong contest with a three-quarters-of-a-length verdict over Give 'Em The Slip under Rossa Ryan.
It initiated a massive 713-1 double for Ryan, who also struck on 33-1 shot Bungee Jump for Monmouthshire trainer Grace Harris.
