AFTER one of the most turbulent weeks in sport for decades, we track the impact coronavirus has had on Oxfordshire teams.
Thursday, March 12
- 11.08pm: Formula 1 announce the Australian Grand Prix is cancelled after a member of the McLaren team tested positive. Two members of staff at Haas, who are based in Banbury, were already in self-isolation after showing symptoms.
Friday, March 13
- 11.08am: EFL announce a collective agreement with the Premier League and the top two women’s divisions to suspend the season until April 3 at the earliest.
- 1.52pm: Oxford United announce their training ground will close for a week, during which time it will be deep-cleaned.
- 3.12pm: The BetVictor Southern League call off games for the next two weekends.
- 3.14pm: The Uhlsport Hellenic League suspend matches until the end of March. The North Berks League also postpones fixtures.
Saturday, March 14
- 11.53am: Despite the league allowing games to take place, Oxford United Women agree with opponents Chichester City to postpone their game on Sunday.
- 1.02pm: Oxford City Stars postpone their clash with Invicta Dynamos with one of the Kent side’s players self-isolating.
- 5.00pm: After drawing 1-1 at Hampton & Richmond Borough in front of almost 900 people, Oxford City boss David Oldfield admits to being surprised the game went ahead. He said: “We need leadership from the leagues and I’m sure something will happen in the next few days.”
Monday, March 16
- 2pm: The Oxfordshire FA call off their competitions, forcing the postponement of Wednesday’s Senior Cup semi-final between North Leigh and Thame United.
- 2.46pm: The Oxford City FA confirm their games are suspended after two players tested positive for coronavirus.
- 5.15pm: The Boat Race, scheduled for March 29, is cancelled.
- 5.50pm: The National League call a halt to their competition until at least April 3.
- 6.27pm: England Hockey suspends its programmes until at least April 15.
- 6.34pm: The RFU suspend all rugby activity, which includes training, until April 14.
- 7.16pm: Oxford United Women shut down all operations for seven days.
- 8.04pm: The Witney & District League cancels its games “for the foreseeable future”.
Tuesday, March 17
- 10.49am: In response to a directive from the Football Association, the OFA advise all grassroots games in the county should be postponed for the foreseeable future.
- 12.37pm: The British Horseracing Authority announces a suspension until the end of April.
- 5.45pm: Didcot Town announce they are in a fight for survival and launch a fundraising campaign.
Wednesday, March 18
- 9.54am: The English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA) cancels the 2019/20 season.
Thursday, March 19
- 1.02pm: The EFL announce, along with the Premier League, FA and the women’s professional game, to push back the April 3 suspension to April 30.
