OXFORD United are set to be boosted this week by the long-awaited comeback of Ben Woodburn.

The Liverpool loanee has been sidelined for five months, but is in head coach Karl Robinson’s plans for Saturday’s squad at Shrewsbury Town.

James Henry said: “It will be great, the more people we can get around the squad the better.

“We’ll need a lot of bodies from now until the end of the season.

“The demands have been high on everyone and Ben’s a great player, so having him back will be a big boost.”

Woodburn broke a bone in his left foot against Accrington Stanley in October.

Just as he was about to return in December, the Wales international suffered an identical injury in his right foot while training at Liverpool.

As a result, United were able to renegotiate the terms of his loan.

Effectively Liverpool agreed to freeze the share of Woodburn’s wages paid by the U’s until he was fit again, freeing up enough room in the budget to sign Marcus Browne.

His return means only John Mousinho, who is due back later this month, and Malachi Napa are out injured.
