OXFORD City had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Billericay Town in Vanarama National League South.

Kevin Berkoe, on loan from Oxford United, put the visitors ahead shortly after the break but Jake Robinson’s penalty ensured the game ended

all-square.

Craig King had to be alert to keep out Dejon Noel-Williams in the 11th minute, the City stopper getting down well to save.

Andy Ballard’s side should have taken the lead midway through the half when Kyrans Lofthouse and Wiltshire combined, but the latter blazed over the crossbar.

United loanee Nico Jones replaced the injured Ben Jefford shortly after the

half-hour mark and it briefly seemed King would join the defender on the treatment table.

The keeper came off worse after an aerial challenge with Noel-Williams, but he was able to carry on.

City broke the deadlock five minutes after half-time, as Berkoe was released down the left hand side and his shot took a wicket deflection and dropped into the net.

But the hosts responded well and levelled 12 minutes later, Robinson making no mistake from the spot.

Ballard brought on Nana Owusu and Craig Fasanmade with 15 minutes remaining and the latter looked particularly lively, but they could not force an opening.

Oxford City: King, Jones, Jefford (Jones 33), Ashby, Moore-Azille, Oastler, Wiltshire, Fleet, Benyon (Fasanmade 75), Berkoe (Owusu 75), Lofthouse. Unused subs: Barrett, George.

Attendance: 233.

Meanwhile, both games involving Oxfordshire sides in BetVictor Southern League Division 1 Central were postponed.

Didcot Town’s trip to leaders Halesowen Town was washed out, while North Leigh’s home game against Bedworth United was called off on Monday.
