A SENSATIONAL second round gave Eddie Pepperell the outright lead at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
The Abingdon golfer carded a five-under par 67 to go to eight-under for the tournament and lead by one shot at the halfway stage.
Starting from the 10th at the Emirates GC, the Frilford Heath member began with a birdie, which he repeated at the 13th.
A bogey at the 15th proved only a minor setback as he picked up a shot at the 16th and the 17th.
Birdies at the first and second were followed by another at the fourth, before Pepperell dropped a shot at the sixth.
Sweden’s Robert Karlsson, Dean Burmester, from South Africa, and American Bryson DeChambeau are all a shot behind the 29-year-old.
It is also the first time Pepperell has made the cut in 2020, after failing to reach the weekend in Abu Dhabi and South Africa.
