ROTHERHAM United's excellent form over Christmas has propelled them to second in Sky Bet League One.

It means Oxford United's game against the Millers tomorrow is a genuine top-of-the-table clash and the U's will have to keep an eye out for some familiar faces.


The forward was key to Rotherham's festive surge up the table, scoring a 97th-minute winner at Shrewsbury Town on Boxing Day before bagging in the 2-1 triumph over Blackpool six days later.

With another strike in the Millers' 3-2 defeat to Hull City in the Emirates FA Cup third round, Smith is just coming into form.

The 28-year-old has previous against United, finding the net in Rotherham's 3-1 win over the U's in February 2018.


The ex-United man played just six games for the club five years ago, but he still made his mark.

Vassell's only goal was an 80th-minute winner against Carlisle United in March 2015 that helped boost Michael Appleton's side's survival bid.

Fast forward to the present day and the striker hit the headlines for a stunning strike against Hull last weekend, so he will be in confident mood.


The American right back joined Paul Warne's side last summer after he was released by Manchester United, where he did not make a senior appearance.

He has since featured in all but one of Rotherham's league matches this season, despite Warne initially intending to ease him in.

At just 21, Olosunde is tipped by some as one for the future for the United States national team.
