LIAM Kelly has become Oxford United's second signing of the day.

The former Reading midfielder, 24, joins on loan from Dutch giants Feyenoord for the rest of the season.

He follows winger Nathan Holland, who arrived from West Ham this morning.

A lack of game time at Rotterdam meant a move back to England was always on the cards this month, with several clubs interested.

Kelly was in the stands as United beat Hartlepool United 4-1 in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday and is keen to get cracking.

He said: "It’s nice when you have a few options, but this was the one that stood out for me the most.

"It was an easy decision to come here with where they are in the table.

"I just want to get in and help the team out."

Kelly made more than 80 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship for the Royals.

He was part of the side which reached the play-off final in 2017 under Jaap Stam.

When the ex-Manchester United defender took over in Rotterdam last year he signed Kelly.

But he has made just one league appearance and Stam resigned in October, opening up the possibility for a move.

U's boss Karl Robinson said: "I remember watching him in that year when Reading were successful and got to the play-off final.

"He was instrumental in the manager’s style that I enjoy watching.

"Some would say we replicate that style and he will fit into that."
