KARL Robinson was delighted his Oxford United side earned a place in the club's record books after stretching their unbeaten run.

A 1-0 win at Walsall in the Emirates FA Cup made it 16 matches without defeat.

It is the first time the U's have enjoyed such a sequence in a single Football League season.

United were worthy winners of the second round tie, but after they lacked the ruthless edge of recent weeks the game was goalless until James Henry's 84th-minute strike.

Robinson said: "These records are important, because hopefully way beyond my days you can come back and say you were part of a team that went 16 games without losing.

"We’re almost three months, so that run is incredible and it’s all down to the players and the connection they have with the fans.

"We love being a part of this roadshow at the moment and you stand here with tremendous pride."

Robinson did feel United should have been in front on the stroke of half-time.

Matty Taylor turned in Henry's cross but it was ruled out for offside - which the head coach believes was the wrong decision.

He said: "Matty's goal was onside.

"We should have scored four or five and made this game so comfortable. We didn’t unfortunately.

"We have good players and that’s the most important aspect of it.

"We always believe we have an opportunity to score goals."
