DEMOCRATS staged a remarkable comeback to claim a place in the men’s Summer League 7-a-side final.

They also had to come from behind in the quarter-final to see off TJ’s B in the Cowley Workers ODDA competition.

It got them into a last four meeting with Croft Bar, who beat Red Lion 4-2.

Croft had one foot in the final after surging into a 3-0 lead thanks to wins from Michael Wilkes, Rob Thorne and Mark Laverack.

But Democrats fought back and victories from Lennon Cradock, Rob Admans, Adam Bowman and Phil Say gave them a narrow 4-3 success.

They will face TJ’s A in the final.

Section 1 winners Challow British Legion were swept aside in the quarter-finals.

In the last four they met Kidlington Green Social Club, whose 4-2 success over Catherine Wheel included a stunning 144 checkout from Terry Sparrowhawk.

But TJ’s were too strong, running out 4-1 winners at Cowley Workers Social Club.

It means TJ’s will have representatives in both finals, with their women’s team taking on Kidlington Green Social Club.

Both finals will be played at Cowley Workers on Friday, November 15 (7.30pm start).
