OXFORD United have tied down two key members of their backroom staff to new contracts.

Goalkeeping coach Wayne Brown and head of medical services Amy Cranston have committed themselves to fresh deals.

It comes after changes in the analysis department last month which saw Ed Denton promoted and Garry Parker join.

Head coach Karl Robinson regularly highlights his staff for praise and is delighted to see the latest pair rewarded.

He said: “Those people are so important to me. Everyone in the building has been fantastic.

“I think every single player would say Amy’s been magnificent.

“I can’t thank her enough.

“She cares about the players and that’s the most important thing, and she’s willing to go above and beyond to make sure they have the best treatment.

“Since Shaun Derry moved on in the summer Browny has responsibility for set pieces, for and against.

“His attention to detail has been fantastic.”

Brown’s agreement was warmly welcomed by United’s No 1, Simon Eastwood.

He said: “When I ended up signing my new contract I wanted a guarantee Browny would be here working with us.

“I’ve had coaches in my time where it’s their way or the highway.

“But at my age that’s not the way it needs to be.

“It’s good we can bounce ideas off each other.”

Brown, who has been at United since 2011 as a player and coach, said: “We’ve been talking for a while now and it’s good to get it signed and sealed.

“I’m really happy to still be here.”

Cranston had spent six years in United’s set-up before joining the first team staff in 2018.

But she was keen to spread any praise across the medical department.

She said: “I just feel that I’m doing my job. The fact that people recognise that is lovely.

The staff are brilliant and that was a big reason for me to continue my work here.

“It’s not just me. There’s John Elliott, Nathan Benjamin-Smith, Chris Chesterman, the academy guys Luke Jones and Jack McGowan.

“There’s Dwayne Peasah with Chris Short in the sports science office as well.

“We have a really close-knit team that I’m proud of.”
