WE head for Lincoln this afternoon for a tough-looking game against a really good side who have put the football club front and centre of the whole city.

They have done ever so well to get out of the Conference and then up into League One – they have that momentum with them.

It will be a tricky game for us, but then again every match is difficult!

Take our clash at Bolton on Tuesday.

A few weeks ago they looked doomed and were in a mess on and off the pitch.

Happily they seem to have got over their financial worries, and I am genuinely glad to hear that because it’s a fantastic football club.

However, it meant we were probably the first team to face the ‘proper’ Bolton this season when we travelled north in midweek.

Let’s be honest, the first few weeks was just about fulfilling fixtures for them.

But now they have a very experienced manager and a squad full of individuals who have played at a much higher level.

There are no excuses for the way we started the game, however.

We were second best and had to dig deep.

But then we showed a bit of spirit and were absolutely determined to get something out of the game.

We were all disappointed not to win, but you take a point and take the positives and move on.

We stayed up north on the Tuesday night because the lads got a good night’s sleep that way rather than getting home in the early hours.

They trained the next day and then we came home and we did more work on Thursday and Friday before staying over in Lincolnshire last night.

Our preparations have been good and hopefully Jamie Mackie, Shandon Baptiste and Elliott Moore are involved again today.

If not then they should be OK for West Ham on Wednesday night.

That Carabao Cup game will be a great night and one for all of us to enjoy but it can wait for now.

Lincoln away may not sound quite as glamorous but it is all we are thinking about.

A win today and we suddenly have seven points in a week and are climbing the table.

If you are coming along to support us then enjoy your day and be nice and loud for the boys.

I THINK I am fairly safe in saying that Kash Siddiqui will be the first Oxford United player ever to address the United Nations when he talks to the general assembly later this week!

Kash has been invited to speak to heads of state about the power of football and what effect it can have around the world.

What an amazing thing to happen.

Someone proudly wearing the Oxford United badge, standing there in front of presidents and ministers.

Kash really is an amazing young man.

It has been a pleasure to have him around the training ground for the last few weeks.

He has so much energy and doesn’t seem in the least bit worried about the speech he has to give.

We wish him well and he is right – football does have a massive power for good.
