KARL Robinson will be hoping for a kinder start to the season when the Sky Bet League One fixtures are released tomorrow morning.

Clubs in the EFL will learn their run of games for the 2019/20 campaign at 9am.

UPDATE - FULL LIST OF OXFORD UNITED 2019/20 FIXTURES

The U’s were handed a tough opening last year, their first three away games seeing them take on promotion favourites Barnsley, Portsmouth and Sunderland.

With just four points from seven matches, it meant Robinson’s side were always playing catch-up with their rivals.

And United’s boss admits he will be keeping his fingers crossed that their first few games are not all against teams likely to be battling for promotion.

“We just hope it’s a little kinder to us (than last season),” he said.

“It’s always exciting (to see the fixtures), but you don’t want to pay too much attention to it because you can get wrapped up in the euphoria of it.

“We’ve got to play them all twice and whatever it will be, we’ll accept. We look forward to the challenges.”

New teams in the division comprise Ipswich Town, Bolton Wanderers and Rotherham United – all relegated from the Championship last season – while Lincoln City, Bury, MK Dons and Tranmere Rovers won promotion from League Two.

One fixture sure to grab the attention of supporters will be the games against Ipswich – with the teams not having met since February 1999.

The Tractor Boys are second favourites for promotion, but Robinson admits it is difficult to know how strong sides will be at various points throughout the season.

“It’s about playing teams at the right time,” he said.

“Playing Ipswich who have just come down – do you want to play them early, or it might be better playing them six games down the line.

“You just don’t know.”
