OXFORD United are likely to have until the end of August to complete all of their summer transfer business next season.
EFL clubs yesterday gave their backing to a revised window for the 2019/20 campaign.
Although Premier League and Sky Bet Championship clubs would have a deadline of August 8 to bring in new faces, League One and Two sides would have a further three weeks for transfer activity.
Last year, all permanent deals had to be completed by August 9, with the loan window open until the end of the month.
Clubs will now formally vote on the matter at a meeting in April.
Shaun Harvey, EFL chief executive, said: “By adopting this approach, EFL Clubs have been given the opportunity to determine the direction of travel, with our priority ensuring that everyone has a clear understanding of the arrangements as soon as possible so as to ensure plans can be put in place for next season.
“This week’s vote indicates strong support for a difference in approach across the Championship and Leagues One and Two and proposals will be finalised ahead of a formal vote at an Extraordinary General Meeting in April.”
