LAST weekend’s results saw Oxford United and Bristol Rovers the only sides outside the top ten in Sky Bet League One to record victories.

It means with a quarter of the season remaining, at least half the table are still in the relegation battle.

Twists and turns are guaranteed before the final whistle on May 4, but we have looked into what lies ahead.

When it comes to the league position of their remaining opponents, the U’s are on average playing sides lower in the table than the majority of their rivals in the bottom half.

Looking at the type of opponents still on the agenda, the U’s and their hosts tomorrow Gillingham are two of only three teams to have more fixtures against teams in the relegation zone than those in the promotion places.

Accrington still have to face five of the top six, while Walsall are the only team to have no fixtures left against the quartet in the bottom four.
CRUNCH CLASHES

At this stage, form can be more important than position in the table.

And if the points won from the previous 11 matches are repeated during the run-in, Karl Robinson’s side would be safe.

On their current trajectory Bristol Rovers, helped by their game in hand, survive comfortably at the expense of Walsall, while the sides in the bottom three need to find another gear to get out of trouble.
