CROPREDY beat the conditions – and Yarnton – to climb the Oxfordshire Senior League table.
In the only competitive fixture played in the county at the weekend, the hosts ran out 4-0 winners of their Premier Division clash and are now fifth in the table.
After a huge effort from volunteers, the Williamscot Road pitch passed a late inspection.
But the home side struggled to hit top gear in the early stages and they were fortunate not to fall behind, with the visitors twice spurning golden opportunities.
Dale Truby somehow failed to find the net when presented with an open goal from just six yards out.
Then Slavyan Antansov tried his luck, but his effort on goal was well saved by Kurt Fox.
After gradually coming into the game, it was the home side who finally made the breakthrough in the final ten minutes of the half.
Dan Reeves collected the ball 30 yards from goal and a superb threaded pass found Aaron Dineen in the area, and the top-scorer made no mistake.
Cropredy came racing out of the blocks after half-time, doubling their lead soon after the restart.
A Dan Reeves corner saw centre back Kevin Cooper lose his marker before powering a header past the Yarnton keeper.
It was soon 3-0, Harry Walters finding the back of the net with a well-placed header.
Cropredy wrapped up a convincing victory ten minutes from time.
Substitute Tim Bennett picked up the ball on the edge of the box before drilling his effort into the bottom corner of the net.
