A FAMILIAR face will provide Blackpool’s biggest threat at Oxford United tomorrow, according to boss Karl Robinson.

Armand Gnanduillet endured an unhappy loan spell at the end of Michael Appleton’s first season in charge.

The French striker made just four substitute appearances before returning to Chesterfield, but he is the focal point for the Tangerines’ attack and is their top scorer with eight goals this season.

Robinson said: “They’re very well coached.

“They have a way of playing which is difficult to play against. Gnanduillet is a handful and they certainly get it to him very quickly.

“They’re a little bit like Shrewsbury in some ways where they have an amazing ability to get around him very quickly and make it difficult for you to play out. They can make the game hard.

“There’s an honesty to Blackpool and there’s talent in their ranks as well.

“They flood boxes to score goals, so we’ll have to be as good as we were at the weekend to get a result.”

If United need any extra tips in their preparation, they will not have to look far.

Chris Short left Bloomfield Road last month to take up a role as head of the U’s sports science department.

Robinson believes his inside knowledge will provide some useful tips, but does not think it will give the hosts a big advantage.

He said: “I’ll watch them independently and then I’ll ask him.

“We have to be respectful as well because they were very good in the transition of him coming here.

“I’ll ask questions obviously, but I’d like to think I’d know most of the players and their strengths anyway.”
