A SUPERB second-half performance saw Oxford City record a convincing 4-0 home win over Truro City.

Three goals after the break saw Mark Jones’s side run out emphatic winners of Saturday’s Vanarama National League South clash.

And in the process they moved to the brink of the play-off places.

Kabongo Tshimanga’s first-half penalty gave City the lead, before a superb display after the interval saw Joe Oastler, Sam Nombe, and Craig Fasanmade add further efforts.

City got off to a bright start and could have broken the deadlock within minutes.

Tshimanga produced an exquisite touch to control a long ball on the edge of the Truro box, but he could not provide the finish.

The game only sparked back into life in the 33rd minute with the award of a penalty.

Tshimanga’s pace saw him beat Harvey Rivers to a ball down the left and he was brought down by the keeper.

The striker then confidently netted from the spot.

Truro almost found an immediate equaliser, Tyler Harvey hitting the base of a post.

Half-time substitute Kunle Otudeko went close for City just four minutes after his introduction, forcing Rivers into a fine stop.

The hosts were in control and doubled their lead on the hour mark.

A Tshimanga shot was pushed behind for a corner, from which Oastler powerfully headed home.

City soon made it 3-0 when Nombe latched on to a perfect Tshimanga pass to slot home.

Craig King ensured a clean sheet with a good save to deny Tyler Harvey, before the icing on the cake came in stoppage time.

Bobby Bawling was brought down in the box, and although his penalty was saved, the loose ball fell to fellow substitute Fasanmade, who fired in.

City look to continue their good run when they host struggling East Thurrock United tomorrow night.
