HARVEY Bradbury’s header could not prevent Oxford United Under 23s losing 2-1 at Hull City in the Premier League Cup last night.

The striker, who made his first-team debut last week, nodded in Albie Hopkins’ 51st-minute cross at the Roy West Centre.

It cancelled out Keane Lewis-Potter’s opener just before half-time, but the same player restored Hull’s lead just after the hour mark.

United, who had started well and hit the woodwork through Kyran Lofthouse, could not find a way back into the game.

The defeat saw Chris Allen’s side slip to third in Group E on goal difference.

But they are only a point behind leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers, who visit on December 3.

Oxford Utd: Stevens, Norman, Long, Raglan, Taylor, McCreadie, Hanson, Lofthouse, Hopkins, James, Bradbury.

Subs: Agboola, Berry-Hargreaves, Taverner, Johnson-Fikula, James.

  • UNITED have revealed Tony McMahon suffered a cracked rib in Saturday’s draw with Forest Green Rovers.

The full back had to play the final 20 minutes with the injury, after the U’s had used all their substitutes.

It is not yet known how long he will be sidelined.
