JAMIE Mackie is available for the meeting with Forest Green Rovers – but is likely to miss out through injury.

It was initially thought the striker was suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season last weekend.

But new rules this season mean bans for the accumulation of cautions in league games are not served in cup competitions.

That makes him eligible for the first round tie, but a rib injury sustained in the 3-3 draw at Scunthorpe United means he is likely to sit it out.

Ricky Holmes may also be rested with Karl Robinson reluctant to play anyone with nagging fitness worries.

He said: “If you have a niggle, you will not be risked. If you’re fit, then the strongest team plays.

“Jamie Mackie’s struggling with his ribs, he’s struggling to breathe so we won’t risk that.

“Ricky Holmes’s back is still a problem, so we’re still a little bit unsure of where we’re going to go with that.”

The likes of Curtis Nelson, Simon Eastwood and John Mousinho are likely to return after being rested for the midweek Checkatrade Trophy tie at Wycombe Wanderers.

But the performance of the youthful line-up, who won 3-0 to secure top spot in the competition, means Robinson would have no qualms with fielding a similar side.

He said: “We showed tremendous energy and maturity.

“I wouldn’t be fearful of playing the same team again.”

While United’s loan players all have permission to feature, Harvey Bradbury is cup-tied after playing for Woking earlier this season.
