CITY of Oxford produced a sensational display to win the opening round of the National Arena League finals.

The club’s A string dominated their event to finish 44 points ahead of nearest rivals RTW Monson in the Premier Division South of the country’s elite club competition.

The highlight of City’s triumph came with three relay teams setting county records.

The girls 15 and under 4x50m freestyle quartet of Evie Mclean, Illizane Pinfold, Delphine Little and Safiya Sillah were in fine form to take victory.

And two boys’ 15 and under teams also blew away their rivals.

The 4x50m freestyle combination of Nick Skelton, Billy Wotton, Mikki Petrovic and Geo Ratouly stormed home, as did the 4x50m medley side, featuring Skelton, Wotton, Ratouly and Logan Bryan.

City’s B string came third in their Division 2 South West meeting.

The second round takes place on November 10 with the A team travelling to Guildford and the B side competing in Southampton.

  • WITNEY & District SC came third in the first round of the National Arena League in Redditch.

The club’s swimmer of the match in Division 2 of the West Midland region was Jessica Miller after wins in the under 13 100m front crawl and 100m backstroke.
