CHRIS Powell has warned his Southend United side not to take struggling Oxford United lightly tomorrow.
The two teams are at opposite ends of the form table in Sky Bet League One.
Southend came from behind to beat Burton Albion 2-1 on Tuesday night to claim a third straight victory, while the U’s lost by the same scoreline against Luton Town for their third successive defeat in the league.
The Shrimpers are odds-on to continue their strong form, but Powell (pictured) is well aware any complacency against the U’s could be very costly.
He told the Echo: “Every Tuesday and Saturday you see the results and there’s a surprise.
“We don’t want to be that one on Saturday.
“Oxford are in a difficult place but they’re playing some decent football.
“The second we relax we will have a problem and, in my mind, maybe we were a bit too relaxed in the first half on Tuesday, but credit has to go to Burton for that too.
“But we’ve won two away games in a row and we want to make it a top week now by getting another win in front of our own fans.
“But we will have to dig deep to do that.”
