CONGRATULATIONS to Colin Dobson for offering to take war veteran Sam Langford to pick up his Legion d’honneur for free.

We all buy a poppy and observe a minute’s silence on Armistice Day, but we must remember not just those who lost their lives in conflict, but those who remain.

Having served the country, these heroes should be treated as that.

But with many growing old and infirm, the danger is they are left isolated and forgotten.

Mr Dobson should inspire the rest of us to make time for our veterans.
