Ammanford Cricket Club has signed its first overseas player in more than 30 years.

Stephan Muller, a 22-year-old Australian batsman, who has been playing for Queensland Metro and Redlands, is set to grace the cricket park this season.

Stephan's decision to play in south Wales was influenced by his friend, Australian test star Marnus Labuschagne, who had extended his contract with Glamorgan until the end of 2024.

The club's earliest overseas professional was Nissar Ahmed, a Pakistani star, hired in 1955.

He replaced the West Indian superstar Frank Worral, who ditched his contract to join the Lancashire League.

However, Ammanford's most notable professional was Linton Lewis, who underwent a decade of unrivaled success, breaking every batting record throughout the 1980s.

The club hopes Stephan enjoys playing for them and have extended him a warm welcome.
