A talk explaining how patient's healthcare data is being used to prevent hundreds of deaths every year is set to be held in Oxford.

The event, taking place at 6pm on April 16 at Rewley House, will explain how healthcare data within the NHS is used.

Organised by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Oxford and Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centres, the session will revolve around the potential benefits of using patient data.

The information is seen as a key resource to understand and battle severe diseases.

Professor Eva Morris, Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre's theme lead for translational data science and professor of health data epidemiology will be speaking at the event.

Also speaking will be Professor Andrea Cipriani, Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre's theme lead for data science, director of the NIHR Oxford Health Clinical Research Facility, and professor of psychiatry.

Professor Morris will share insights on how using data can guide NHS cancer services to prevent numerous fatalities each year.

Professor Cipriani will explain how clinical data can deliver personalised care for mental health patients, thus enhancing their outcomes and minimising NHS expenses.

Entry for the talk is free, and no booking is required.

Refreshments will be made available from 5.40pm and the event will last about one hour.
